Our Story

We built this for our family.
Maybe yours too.

Collectable Moments started with a simple question we couldn't stop asking ourselves: where can we share our family's life without putting our children at risk?

Our family

Our family — the reason behind everything we build.

It started with a photo we almost posted

It was a Tuesday night. Our son had taken his first steps that afternoon, and we'd caught the whole thing on video. Shaky camera, excited voices, the works. We were so proud that our first instinct was to share it with everyone. Instagram, Facebook, the family group chat (all of of them 😅), all of it.

But something made us pause. Everyone was a lot of people. And "everyone" included an algorithm, a data pipeline, a facial recognition training set, and an audience we couldn't see or control.

We put the phone down and looked at each other. There had to be a better way.

The problem with sharing online

We started researching what actually happens when you post photos of your kids on social media. What we found kept us up at night.

Facial recognition & data harvesting

Photos uploaded to major platforms are scanned and indexed. Your child's face becomes training data for AI systems usually without your consent and without any way to take it back.

A digital identity they never chose

By the time a child turns 13, an average of 1,300 images of them have been posted online. They inherit a public identity before they're old enough to understand what privacy means.

Permanence and loss of control

Once something is on the internet, it's effectively there forever. Screenshots, reshares, cached pages and even "deleting" a post doesn't truly remove it.

Exploitation and misuse

Innocent family photos have been found scraped and redistributed in contexts no parent would ever want. Public accounts are especially vulnerable.

None of this was hypothetical. These are documented, studied, ongoing problems. And the platforms profiting from this data have very little incentive to fix it.

We didn't want to stop sharing. We just wanted to share with the people who actually matter, and them alone.

So we built something different

Collectable Moments isn't a social network. There are no followers, no feeds, no algorithms deciding who sees what. There's no advertising, no data mining, and no public profiles.

Instead, it's a private publishing space. You write posts with photos, videos, and stories. the same way you'd share them on any platform. But instead of broadcasting them to the world, you send secure, time-limited magic links to the specific people you choose.

Each link is cryptographically unique. It expires. It can only be opened by the intended recipient. There's nothing to scrape, no public URL to index, and no way for anyone outside your circle to stumble onto your family's moments.

Your family can still comment, react, and engage with your posts just like they would on social media. They just do it in a space you control.

Built by parents, for parents

We're not a big company. We're a small family that wanted to solve a problem we were facing ourselves. Every feature in Collectable Moments exists because we needed it to. The post editor, the subscriber management, the magic links, all of it.

Our son's first steps? Grandma saw the video the same night, through a link that expired the next morning. No data broker saw it. No algorithm indexed it. No stranger will ever find it.

That's how it should be.

If you've felt that same tension in wanting to share your family's life but not wanting to hand it over to the internet, we built this for you. Welcome to the family.
